InterpAscend 3.0 Update is Here!
Hello Interpreters,
I hope everyone is off to a good start this year and, hopefully, had some well-deserved time off with family and friends. I know firsthand what it’s like to have a doctor on the phone be the first person to tell you “Happy New Year.” Please remember to be kind to yourselves, limit the overtime when you can, and hug your loved ones. After all, that’s one of the reasons many of us choose to work from home, right?
Over the holidays (and in between eating tamales), I’ve been hard at work on InterpAscend 3.0. Some of you may have already noticed the changes, and I’m excited to officially share what’s new.
🚀 What’s New in InterpAscend 3.0
- Improved visuals on the homepage and blog section for better readability and a more pleasant reading experience
- “Did you mean…?” spellchecker, designed to help you quickly find what you need while on live calls
- 37,000+ new descriptions added to the database, including but not limited to pharmaceutical, medical, financial, and government-agency terminology
These new descriptions go beyond simple definitions. They include:
- Interpreter-specific notes
- Example sentences in English and Spanish
- Common pitfalls and mistakes to avoid, helping you deliver the most accurate renditions possible
⚠️ Known Issues (and What I’m Doing About Them)
With major updates, a few bugs are inevitable. Many of you frequently search for healthcare abbreviations. While most are still available, some may currently return a message like:
“No translation found for ‘ABC’”
I’m actively working on restoring and expanding abbreviation coverage based on real user searches. If you notice something missing, please send feedback by clicking “Feedback” at the top of the page on desktop, or by tapping the menu (☰) and selecting “Provide Feedback” on mobile.
Your reports genuinely help improve the platform.
🔮 What’s Next for InterpAscend?
Although I’m very excited about the Trending Words feature, there is currently an issue preventing it from updating correctly week to week. This is my top priority, and a fix should be rolling out within the next few days.
I’m also aware of cases where a searched term returns results in the same language. When a term is not found in the database, InterpAscend uses AI to generate a fallback result. Most of the time this works well, but occasionally it can produce incorrect outputs. Thank you to everyone who has been reporting these issues. Please keep them coming so we can continue improving accuracy.
I have several other features in mind, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises just yet.
❤️ Thank You
I want to sincerely thank all of you for your support over the past few months. InterpAscend started as a small side project in my free time around June of last year, and it has truly changed my life. I never imagined something I built from my home could help interpreters around the world.
This would not be possible without you.
Big hug to all of you. You’re amazing, and it genuinely brings me joy to build this platform alongside you.
InterpAscend is built by Interpreters, for Interpreters.
